We’re expanding!

What a difference 900 days can make! Around three years ago I decided to quit my job; there was nowhere left for me to grow in my role at work, and it was no longer the place I wanted to be.

So at the age of 28, what is it you do? Some will go onto other roles whilst others might have a rethink about what it is they’re doing. Some may even stay where they are and just get their head down.

For me I knew I was in the right industry, I just knew I wasn’t in the right place.

So why not give it a go?

It started with no clients, no large bank loans, just a MacBook rested on a two seat dining table inside a one bed flat on the Exeter Quayside. The funding came from my savings cobbled together over the past few years.

People often asked ‘where was I going to get clients from’, which for me was always a peculiar question; after all, if I couldn’t find myself clients I probably wasn’t great at my job was I?

Plenty of people have helped me along the way, and that’s something I’ve learnt, along with a lot of other things; that you need other people and they’ll ultimately become the strongest marketing tool for your skills you’ll ever have.

Other business owners will also know that people will only see the highs, those Facebook posts about the latest big client win, or your successes, the blog articles or the carefully preened exterior us marketers are able to fashion.

They’ll rarely know the hard work that goes into it; the sacrifices everyone makes in order to give their start up business the best possible chance in life. It might be long working hours, perhaps losing the odd friend along the way or giving up holidays for a year or two, but I’m incredibly proud to say that for me it has all been worth it, and that I’m incredibly proud of the business we have and the one we’ll be in a few years time.

We’re now a team of three; Amelia the first full time employee almost a year ago, with Ellis joining us in recent months. Our developer Paul and the accounts ladies also make up the team.

We work with businesses of all sizes; we’ve helped more than 160 in the past three years, quoting for more than £500,000 along the way.

So it’s time to move! We’re now only two months away from taking MiHi to the next level. We’ll be moving into a two floor office building, allowing us greater open plan space upstairs, and a presentation / meeting area downstairs.

These are incredibly exciting times for all of us, and you’ll see us rolling out more and more events for local businesses, and also putting a few added extras for our own clients; after all, they’re the ones that have gotten us to where we are today.

So we’ll keep you up to date on all the developments as and when they happen, and also hopefully see you in our new offices sometime soon!
