How to increase your ranking on YouTube: Get people interacting!
You won’t be surprised to learn that viewer interaction plays a large part in YouTube rankings. Interactions tell YouTube that a video is popular and as a result should be ranked higher. In order to increase your rankings, you need to get people commenting, liking, sharing, and subscribing.
Different Interactions
Viewers can interact in four key ways. Likes/dislikes, comments, shares, and subscriptions.
Likes
are the easiest way for a viewer to get involved as it only requires one click on a thumbs up symbol.
Comments
are really useful as you can learn from them. Viewers can boost your rankings by leaving a comment, whilst also providing you with feedback for future videos – what’s not to love about that?!
Sharing
allows viewers to post your video on different channels such as Facebook, Twitter, or through a direct message. Shares help your video get to a broader, bigger audience.
Subscriptions
mean that a viewer will know whenever you post a new video. Having a high number of subscribers will help boost your rankings.
How to get them talking
I know you can’t force someone to comment on your video or subscribe, but you can include a call to action to encourage viewers to get involved.
At the end of your video, add in a simple message asking viewers to like, comment, subscribe and share. You can also include this in your description. To put it simply – if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
