Meet MiHi – Ellis Taylor

We like to get to know our clients, and so it’s only fair that you get to know us too!

Most recently we’ve had a new member join the team. Ellis Taylor, an English Literature graduate, has taken up a full time position as Digital Marketing Assistant with us. Before MiHi, Ellis was working alongside the marketing department at the Exeter Northcott Theatre. Born and raised in Exeter, Ellis went to the University of Surrey to study, briefly returning to Devon for a placement year with Devon Life magazine. After finishing her studies, she returned to her home county.

So now we know the qualifications and the career history, but that’s not enough. We sat down with Ellis and asked her the really important stuff…

You have an hour of free time, how do you spend it?

I’d probably sit down and read! I’ve got a very large collection of books and magazines, so I’m always dipping in and out of things. It’s perfectly normal for me to have 3 novels on the go at once.

Favourite place in Devon/Cornwall?

Oh that is so tough! There’s so many wonderful places that are great for different things. I love Haldon forest…but I really love Totnes, and you can go there when it’s raining and eat cake in a cute coffee shop…I’ll go with Totnes!

What do you love most about your hometown?

I am an Exeter girl through and through, so this is another tough choice. I adore the variety of independent shops that are popping up in the city centre now. It started to get a bit ‘mainstream’ with all the big branded shops, and I was worried that Exeter would lose its Devon charm, but local businesses are growing so well now. Oh and I love the variety of theatre performances and cultural events that are always going on.

What is your number 1 most played song en route to MiHi HQ?

I am such a Beyoncé fan, so usually have a playlist of my favourite Beyoncé songs playing – Formation is definitely one of my current top tunes!

Who was your childhood hero/heroine

I was a bit of an odd child because Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen was my hero. One time he did a book signing in the large Exeter Waterstones and I walked past him about 20 times but couldn’t bring myself to speak to him! I was only about 8 years old.

Watch sports, play sports, or neither?

I’m from a real rugby family, so if I watch a sport it’s usually that! I used to watch the Exeter Chiefs a lot, I still enjoy the odd game every now and then. In terms of playing sports, that’s a no-go from me.

Describe yourself in three words

Driven, excitable, friendly (I hope!)

You’re stranded on an island, what one item do you take and why?

I know I should go with something survival based like a knife or some matches, but I’d probably take a nice blanket because I get cold easily!

It’s fancy dress day in the office, what do you go as?

Either Elsa or Ana from Frozen, such a great film.

Sweet or savoury?

Sweet, no doubt about it! Give me a cake over breadsticks any day.
